Had the same problem with my Avids. I put in BBB brake pads as suggested by my LBS and they've been silent ever since.

thud' date=' you are not helping here :-)

what do I order, rapid shifters?[/quote']

That being said....die Sram X.O derailleurs en shifters is 'n klein bietjie duurder as die XTR.

If you want porn star looks with a clunky heavy shift feel that makes a noise, then buy SRAM.

if you want a more refined industrial look, with lighter shifting and lessnoise then get the Shimano XTR.

Had problems with both and also had long spells with either where nothing goes wrong.

Much of a Muchness between the two companies in terms of performance.

How the braks and shifters feel in your hans will help you decide so ride and decide.Clap

PS: On the Anthem I believe teh derailleur is a Bottom Clamp, top swing so that would be an FD-M970 XTR or a FD M770 Deore XT.

You will need to get the seat tube diameter correct if specin the the XTR because it does not ship with spacers to make it fit. YOu have to order the correct size.

Go XT. No need to waste money. Get shifters and brake levers seperate. Get the duall pull front der. Take the shadow rear der. Take the extra R3000 and buy the new XT wheels. That's how much they cost at my LBS.

Pops ek stem saam met Mampara XT is goed genoeg. Hulle lyk ook soos die XTR derraileurs. Hulle is ook meer durable.

Well looking at the New Shimano stuff, things look as if they are finally seeing the light and trying to copt the SRAM mech.

Granted SRM is new on the Road, they are not new on the MTB. They are absolutly the bees knees for the rear, but I do believe that they have a better front mech.

Once you have used SRAM and found a bike shop that can work on SRAM you will never look at anything else.

SRAM should have a tag line something like "IT WORKS PERIOD"

I think you will find that the Shimano Shadow Deraileur design is actually a development of Shimano's Nexus rear derailleur. This is from their city bike line of parts where bikes have to fit into narrow bicycle raks outside train stations in Northern european cities. it has absolutely nothing in common with SRAM's ESP Derailleurs.

If you dig far enough you will realise that Nexus and the 'Shadow' derailleur predates SRAM ESP...

So who copied who..?
