Hi Guys

I read an article in a US Cycling magazine in 2010 were they tested a number of deep section wheelsets against each other. A mate of mine riding for a rival team was sponsored by HED and their whole team rode them whilst we had the Zipps. So it was a good laugh for him to show me this article where HED come out faster than the Zipps for the same depth of rim. The test used various wind angle and speeds and was done by the magazine who were impartial.

I am trying to find a copy of this article and wonder if anyone else came across it and maybe has a copy for me?

I have the results somewhere on my pc at home.

Those wheels are all old now, newer faster models are available and Firecrest wasn't around yet

There is a great article on the Enve website about a comparison test with different wheels. Pity that Zipp did not take part in the test

You can clearly see the broken rims in the dustbin in that awesome clip on how Enve wheels are made. Broken Zipp's, HED's and a few others :(

Personaly I think its the legs powering the big that causes it to go faster and not the wheels, I have seen bike with really expensive wheels being passed going up the hill by some oke on a entry level set of wheels

Imagine how slow he would be on an entry level wheelset :whistling: . Seriously though, yes you need to have strong legs to get the best out of better wheels and equipment.

Luckily they do not use legs in the wind tunnel to these all the different wheels, that oak will be truly farked afterwards and he will be to only inconsistent. They let the robots do the work. :D

Yes but on the same bike with the same rider wheels make a huge difference. Talking not seconds but minutes over 40km events and up if you got your nose in the wind.
