Hi All

Thanks to everybody who supported us on Sunday. We really tried our best and realise that there were some teething problems, but all the feedback will definitely be taken into consideration when preparing for next year.

With regard to the marshalling issues, we regret that we were let down in certain places, but we acted immediately on those areas as soon it was reported. I myself had to man an intersection on Lynnwood road for about two hours, when we realised the extent of the problem. The matter has already been taken up with the involved parties, as we want to make the event safe and enjoyable for all riders.

We're already working on ideas for the route for next year. Your suggestions are welcome.

Glad to hear that most of you enjoyed the ride, hope to see you back next year. Everything will be bigger and better!!!!

Hell yeah I saw you dude...was sucking your wheel there for a while (in all honesty LOL)...and I should have stayed there it seems :P. I was in a Craft Leopard Trek bib on the green / black Merida. Lekker man!

In all honesty I remember the shirt but not so much the bike...

Hi All

I was one of the ThinkBike marshals yesterday. Unfortunately I was assigned to escort the paracyclists so was not able to enjoy the high paced escort with the faster bunches. :(

We are glad to see the feedback from you, the everyday cyclist, whether it be criticism or positive comments. There is definitely a plan to make this into Pretoria's major race in the future, and all your comments will be most welcome. As with any event that takes place for the first time, there were a few short comings and the organisers realise this and will act upon them next year.

Any issues you have, will be looked at when planning the next event to try and improve your experience for next year.

To those that took part, well done and thanks for your patience with the marshals, traffic and mis-directions. Next year it will be huge improvement on this year and we look forward to riding with you all agian. :D

Just remember, without you this race would not have been possible and we hope that it will be even better supported next year.

Hi SD

I started with PC accompanying a friend on his hand cycle. I was on a 20"-wheeled mountain bike. Going up Hans Strydom it became clear that my friend could well do without me and that I could serve others much better, so I rode with two other guys.

Turning right into Botha ave there was no marshall but we continued anyway, against a yellow (maybe red) light. A car from our right probably didn't see the bikes (or didn't care to look) and started driving just after I entered the intersection. I got this very bad feeling of something going terribly wrong, but "from nowhere" a marshall on a bike came in between me and the car, stopping the car.

If it was you, or whoever on the motorbike, thanks, and thanks for a job well done.

The only section I really felt unsafe at was just before the fountains circle. We suddenly found ourselves in the middle of a 4 lane stretch of road with cars on either side and not knowing which side of the road to be on, no markers and no marshals. That stretch of road could definitely have done with cones and clear marking.

Thanks for the effort to start a new race in PTA!Yes there were problems...most have mentioned them already but and I am sure you guys will work on it.Not even the 94.7 had a perfect first couple of years so just keep on working at it and hopefully this race will turn out to be a big success.

As far as the route goes, for now I would not chance anything. It is a good hard route and we need more races like that...maybe in the future you can even have the long route going over klapperkop but please just don't make it any easier....we have more than enough flat races out there.

Agree 100%

Excellent idea on adding Klapperkop to the route!!

Is this the race that Andrew Maclean called the worst and most unsafe race of his life?

Yes.

Funny thing is, this route is (in parts) what the Pretoria guys train on regularly. Maybe we're just used to it :D

Why is it more important what he says than all the other positive opinions above?

This was definitely a tricky section and we will pay close attention to sections such as this in future.
