Hmmm, just come back from the show. I went because I am a very keen motorcyclist but sorry to say, I wasn't impressed at all, it took me about 45 minutes to walk from my car, do the entire show and drive away.

Not your issue, but the boating market wanted to move to Nasrec and many of the other exhibitors piggy backed on this, but this venue is not comparable to when it was held at the Dome, and the entry fee is largely the same (60 bucks) consequently it was poorly attended when I was there.

Food stalls are poor and I was also peeved at the car parking price, R20.00 bucks to park in a dusty, windswept field with no shelter and nothing but a tatty looking guard loafing under the tree is hardly conducive to attracting people to the show.

I saw at least three cars leave when told the fee, thats about 15 entrance fees lost plus whatever they would spend.

As you know, the Dome parking is mostly free, (Northgate parking is massive) and is in my mind a lot more secure and clean, last year entry was 70 bucks so in effect Nasrec is more expensive (entry, plus parking) to the visitor for a poorer show environment, and considering there are restaurants, movies and places to visit within walking distance at the Dome after the show for a coffee or a stroll, in my mind there's no contest.

I stopped at Fourways shopping centre on my way home for dinner, parked underground in a clean well maintained environment with a friendly guard for 6 bucks, - next year, unless its back at the Dome, you wont find me there again.

Okay, cool, are you going?, I dont want to put anyone off, but I really thought it was a poor show.

Nah. Just I'm an active Think Bike person, and so is the AMID guy, think he should take the criticism.

Yeah, I saw the Think Bike stand. To my mind they were looking to save money on the cost of the stands, nothing wrong with that providing the visitors experience is the same or equal, but it wasn't, nowhere near in fact, and the visitors cost remains the same literally. Motorbikes, Boats and outdoor exhibits by and large attract your A and B income brackets, they dont really like hoofing it around in the dust.

Anyway, I dont want to harp on about it, and on the positive side I saw there was an AMID sponsored motorbike parking area for only 10 bucks, but unless you knew about it prior to arriving in your car, its hardly valid.
