I don't do much cycling, only the 94.7, the Iron Man 70.3 and then a few triathlons a year, so I can't justify spending a whack on a road bike, but will still like to improve my times a bit. A cyclist friend has suggested that I get a new wheelset to put on my 2008 Raleigh RC 2000 (which has the original, standard wheels), saying with a R 3g spend it would make quite a difference.

So My questions are :

1. Will it make a difference?

2. Which wheelset would be best in that price range?

As light as possible, just make sure about the weight limit on those wheels. Shimano Dura Ace, Easton EA90SL or SLX Fulcrum Zero or One, depending on what you want to spend.

If you can, add another R2g and you can buy Eastons EA70 wheelset (new).

You can also look in the classifieds for a pair of Mavic Ksyriums Elite for about R2500.

Wheels will be a personal choice but any upgrade from the standard wheels will make a huge diffrence.
