SamL1220 Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Looks like a Great bike specced with XO or XT? General thoughts? Any owners out there?
Behan Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 super hot bike!!! Never seen or ridden one, but the XT groupset is heavenly!!!
kandui Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 A mate of mine has one and loves it. I have the Jet 9, which one could term the Alu version of the RDO, even though it looks different. Be aware, the cost difference is big, but the weight saving didn't warrant the extra cost for me.RDO price: about R 26000 for the frame and rear shock. Jet 9 was R 18500 when I bought the frame in September 2011.The Niners handle beautifully. I have the Air 9 Carbon (HT) and it's a fantastic racing machine.I did a rough estimate of building my bike up, excluding labour, cables , BB and headset bearings. Around 50k all in, so you're looking at around R56-58k for the RDO.
cycle&sport Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Cycle and Sport in Westville KZN are Niner dealers - We have sold an few RDO's - mostly with XT on it - it is really an awesome looking bike and I believe an absolute pleasure to ride. Get looks of WOW looks !!! As commented above the frame is R26K and then it depends from there what spec components you spec the bike with but for 50K you can get something really nice
Delilah Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 I've been searching all over for this frame At the moment the suppliers only have large, black 2012 RDOs. The new 2013 RDO is expected late this year or January at the latest. Prices are up on those and will only come in green. There is also a new Jet 9 Carbon which, I think, is like the 2012 RDO and that will only be available in a kind of metallic poo colour
Waltcairns Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 I have a Jet9 RDO in Black - it is very sweet! I rode it in the Epic 2012 and will do the same in 2013!
Delilah Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 I have a Jet9 RDO in Black - it is very sweet! It sure is sweet, but no way can I ride the large you see? EDIT: Oh, and for those interested in the current large frames: I e-mailed all the Gauteng retailers listed on the distributor's website and only Westrand Cycles bothered to reply - try them first.
Swift01 Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 My mates rip me off about my green fork that I got with my MeridaTeam bike. I suspect over time the same may happen with this one
cycle&sport Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 There is also a BLACK Medium available but due to the high cost of the frames Cool Heat dont bring many in

They do a lot of bike builds for guys upcountry, it may be worth a try.
T-Bob Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Jeez saw one down at Epic Cycles a couple of months ago. The thing was unreal and the guy was selling the frame for a steal. Review wise, there are a lot on the web and I don't think you'll find a bad one anywhere. That linkage looks so damn good.
cobus3000 Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 So, where in Cape Town and surrounds would one be able to find one? It is one of my options for upgrade next year.
