How do the LOOK cleats attach to the shoe and what is the purpose of these shims?

I've always used Time ATAC but since I modified my cleat position (+/- 13mm further back than a normal cleat slot goes) i found that my feet now feel to loose in some cases because the shoe surface so far back is not designed for cleats (not as flat as the normal cleat installation area).

Why did you move your cleats? 13mms is a long way and if it's not on a stable part of the shoe your setup might be wrong.

Its a long story, basically I get serious toe pain caused by pressure of the pedals on my feet in a normal cleat position, by moving the cleats back 13mm it moves the pressure point behind the metatarsal and no toe pain.

The problem indeed is that the area where the cleat now sits on the shoe is not ideal but it works ok, would have to get custom shoes made if the cleat needs to go further back.

Its actualy quite an interesting concept, have a look at these links:

Sorry for the hijack Mr LOOK but perhaps there is a market for a new LOOK shoe?

Looks are great pedals takes a bit of time to get them set up nicely but after you get used to them you wont regret buying a set.

Back up service is also excellent, I had an issue with the one bearing going after only a few months and the supplier Mr Look swapped them out no problems.
