The world doesn't need strict parents, the world needs Loving and caring parents.

Yeah, but you can't be truly caring without being strict. "Ok Jannie, sure you can go smoke that joint at Johnny's house, just look after yourself, ok?".

Love, Care and Strictness should be hand in hand.

And this is the reason i dont read or watch the news anymore. Always depressing. Since i stopped having a interest in the news it has made a positive effect in my life and i feel much more positive every day.

Glad that's working out for you.

So you are saying that just because you raise you child to know right from wrong, in a loving home, they will always do the right thing and resist all types of peer pressure?

sorry let me just add that when i say loving i do not mean hug them and kiss them everyday, I mean love them in a way that you discipline them when needed and say no when you have to etc. What do you think lead to a 12 and 14 year old to be in a 20 year old mans flat? In my opinion they were seeking attention that they should be getting at home.

We have all been lured into peer pressure somewhere in our teenage years, but because of my values that i was brought up with i always knew where to draw the line

When we were laatjies we probably did the same kind of stuff but we did everything we could not to get caught.

The advent of the cellphone camera has caught so many.

No, they are saying that it doesn't matter how you raise your children, its still your fault when they do something wrong

That's where we have been fortunate with ours. I just know of loving households where it did go off the rails through no fault of the parents.

For once I will agree with you, but surely there must also be a bit of "built-in" reasoning skills to know right from wrong. Stupid example, "Slippery when wet" signs shouldn't be needed, its bloody obvious that the whatver will be slippery when wet. 75-80% of right and wrong comes from the parents, but the rest should be plain logic. Is this Oros I'm drinking to the point of feeling sick? Um no. Should I continue drinking it? Sure!. Um, no.

I am not saying that at all, maybe i am generalising but in my opinion most of this behavior can be prevented at Home. I must also add that there is definitely deeper lying issues causing this behavior, wether it is the parents or something that happened in the past i do not know. I do not think they woke up one morning saying come lets go get pissed and have sex.

Yeah bragging is best kept to between the sheets or between the people who will suffer if caught...logic seems to be less prelevent since the advent of camera phones, google etc...or the disablement of corpral punishment :whistling:

I agree but we also do not know some of these Childrens family situation. If we knew that they came from a household like you and i then i would say judge them and whatever, but if we don't know the history i don't think we should Judge. The world is a messed up place and there are so many things that are accepted now that would of been frowned upon 10 years ago

For sure. So with that being said, I'll devide the blame for this situation up like this:

20 year old: 40%

Parents: 30%

14 year old: 20%

12 year old 10%

At the risk of sounding callous, there seems to be some sort of discrepancy in the girls' story here. Neither of them remembers what happened, but the chain of events where the pedophile suggested that he wanted to cuddle and wanted it filmed was reported. Now if they did not remember this, how could it be reported?

I still think the parents need to be investigated for something here. What are two teenage girls doing in a house alone, drinking with a 20 year old man? But based on this story, I do not think they were as innocent as made out. Maybe, after showing the video and realizing that they were in the cr~p for producing and showing child porn, this story was made up. Either way, hope the 20yr old gets the full might of the law!
