Thats how we all got our cycling legs from, peddling with 20kg pick and pay bikes. What does not kill you only makes you stronger!

The difference is that there was nothing else available when we were kids.

Saw one of those a while ago. Very nice, just pricey for a kids bike. Having said that, when my boy is big enough for one I will probably do the same thing and rather pay more for a slightly lighter bike. Hope he has many happy miles on it!

looking good, cant wait for the day I can teach my son to ride

Tell me about it, we bought our son one of those Y-bikes for his 1st b-day in July and he cruises on the thing yet he cannot even walk yet. It is going to be scary watching him on a proper bicycle in a few years time

Those are awesome. My daughter just went off hers and is on the Y-bike. My son is in transition from Extreme Bike (also y-bike) to his Schwinn back pedal bike.

Yeah the little guy gets around well on it, except the other day he found a crack in the paving and the front wheels didn't want to go forward no more and he had a little face plant.

Got my eldest son a Momsen 20inch mtb for his birthday, awesome bike, I converted the tyres to tubeless so no punctures :)

Hi, How much did you pay for the Bike ?....also need to buy my son a new bike.

I made my daughter wear her toddler bike helmet when she was using it on the pavement for this reason and I'm glad I did. Work 100% in the house. We would have kept ours but with all the other bikes, she moved on. My 5yrs old loved it still. We ended up donating ours to her creche.

Where would you get a toddler helmet that would fit a 14 month old toddler? I tried Sportsmans but those things were huge and wouldn't do his neck any good

I got given a bell toddler helmet at my baby shower. Not sure where they got it from. Specialized however do really nice kids helmets.

My son is 4 now and has the Small Fry Child helmet. For a 14 month old, you could get the Small Fry Toddler

Also got the Bell Toddler and it comes with lights at the back. They retail for about R400 but so worth it. My daughter was 9mths old when I first got it. She is now 2yrs and ready for her next helmet.

Guys, keep in mind that a child needs a snug fitting helmet and the toddler helmets are short term (12-24mths of age). Don't buy oversized.

As per my pic, I got my son the Crazy Stuff helmet - he loves it
