Super excited about tomorrow. Course marked like a Christmas tree. Beers chilled. Cheers, Myself and Gerhardc are off to a final pre-ride on the track. See you there in the morning.

I enjoyed that!

A real MTB race, none of that 'manicured' single track stuff, had to keep your wits about you but not dangerous http://1.1.1.2/bmi/cdn.bikehub.co.za/forum//public/style_emoticons/default/thumbup1.gif - saw loads and loads of game right up close!

@NotSoSlowBen, always nice to have you racing in Heidelberg. Congrats on your result! Upon reflection, the 60km was a tough one. There are hills in Gauteng and we found them. So much learnt today as race oraganiizers. Hope to make better every year.

So they are, must have been my browser not clearing from first time i looked.

Did the 30km 2nd in my age cat. 5 min behind the overall winner. I found the route not technically challenging but the unmanicured track was quite punishing and difficult to get my rhythm particularly the 1st 10km, but was not as wet and muddy as i expected . Was caught napping at the end when some riders stormed past me just before entering the golf grounds, too slow to react and could not catch them (damn skinny kid youngsters cursing.gif ). I also missed one turn off sign which cost me some time, myself to blame.

Scored a 2nd free draught as the guy just behind me gave me his for dragging him for the last few kms, sosatie rolls and pancakes. thumbup1.gif

I had the pleasure of riding with my better half. Unfortunately I forgot to wear my "patience" hat. She was so slow I decided to take the low road and leave her behind. She still gave me her beer at the endthumbup1.gif, despite my bad manners. The route was deceptively difficult, but surprisingly enjoyable. I wonder if you can ride it on a normal weekend? clap.gif

Did the 30k route and fully enjoyed it. Had a bit off everything in it and kept you interested all the way. The sosaties at the end was very lekka!!!!!

Well done young man! In our case 'Mr. G. Holmes' was a 'kilodoper' but he did own up thumbup1.gif

P.S. 'kilodoper' a term coined by our good friend Wolverine on the Hub ...

Thanks to everyone for your support. Big thanks to the landowners and Coca-Cola Shanduka Beverages. Also a special thanks to the Springs riders who always support the local races in numbers and in good spirit. Thanks also to @Gerhardc for all your help and support.

Some of the routes are available for weekend riding, but please call me so we can show you which parts are out of bounds. The guys who did the 30km are in for a surprise at what technical riding there were for the 60km guys. And there are much more routes up there that are great for the warrior, but not appropriate for a race. We would love to have you come play with us Hdb guys.
