Giro d'Italia 2013

ITT today!

Can Cuddles dent Nibs' lead?

Can Scarpo' move from 4th to 3rd?

Hmm, yeah, should be good.

Personally I dont think much will change in the top 4 you mention, maybe a few seconds lost or gained here and there but unless someone is sick or just has an awful day (which of course can happen) I think they will stay much the same, however I am expecting Santambrogio to go all out and maybe gain back a spot, he has shown he can climb and he is very explosive so it should suit the route today.

........but of course I am hoping for a Scarpo' move up the ranks never the less......

"RCS Sport, the race organisers, are planning alternative routes for Friday and Saturday's stages in the Dolomites. Snow is forecast at above 1,500m, with temperatures of -14C forecast on the 2,758m Passo Stelvio.

A decision is likely to be reached after Thursday's individual time trial, and any alterations are likely to have a major effect on whether Nibali's race leadership can be challenged."

I've been waiting impatiently for the Stelvio tomorrow (as I've said before, even took leave to watch from my IDT). But with these reports I've accepted an invite to Sodwana for a bit of marlin fishing instead. At least the weather is looking tops for the weekend there :).

Today's the individual mountain time trial, a 20.6 hike from Mori to Polsa. The gradients, an average of five percent and the final 6km at 6.8 percent, look better suited to the specialists than to the thoroughbred climbers. Though the time gaps won't be vast, it's conceivable they will determine the outcome of the race. A minute lost here may not seem a lot but in the context of the Giro, you never know. No question of the tactics, then, just 45 minutes of good old-fashioned suffering.

Pity Valverde is not there, would've been another win for Movistar.

Or AC or Froomdog.

Tough to pick a winner today but as grumpy said, don't think we'll see changes at the top.

I'm expecting Tom Danielson to do well here.

He's a specialist when it comes to hill climb races (still holds the record for the Mt. Evans Hill Climb in Colorado). And holds a lot of records for various hill climbs in the States.

He's now about halfway into his ride, let's see how he does....
