Hi

Im going to go look at a secondhand roadbike tonight.

What can i look for to make sure it is in a decent condition?

Its from a hubber and he ensures me the bike is in good condition with no attention required, i just need to hop on and go.

Thanks,

Cobus

too difficult to give an answer that will make you an expert in a few hours.i suggest common sense and invite the hubber with the most posts in your area as a sidekick.

If its too good to be true, it probably is.

Check that the rims arent bent, frame in good condition, brakes work. Go through all the gears.

Are the components stock, or did he downgrade them and keep the good ones for himself etc.

If there are carbon bits and pieces then look for fine cracks or scratches

Be sure to take a chain tester and check the wear. If the chain has been stretched you'll need to look at replacing the chainrings, cassette and chain. Check that the bearings are good. Check the spoke tensions.

or just a steel rule. 12 inches and measure the wear...although you may look a bit odd rocking up with your steel rule
