  1. i remember from long ago the entre on tv: "steve austin.ruimtevaarder.onherkenbaar vermink maar ons gaan hom maak beter sterker vinniger" that was then followed by a sort of boing noise.
  2. I had my scare last year 1 Sept. Went to have a saddle sort treated at day hospital while training for knysna xtreme.doc decided to do some bloodwork as 2 previous sets of antibiotics and lancing did not sort it out.long story short was operated on 11 september.cancer in transverse colon and lung. chemo and everything that goes with it.had my 4th set of ops 15 march and still feel like a dog most days.on good days i try to go for a swim or ride my idt.walking my dog is the nearest i get to running.i look like frankenstein from all the op scars when i take my shirt off.i take it day by day. i had zero symptoms prior to 1 sept and am a healthy 56 years old with no family history of cancer.my advice to everyone is to have yourself checked.
  3. you paid for x on 19 March and today 10 April you still do not have what you paid for is the bottom line. Seller is well aware of situation so cannot argue that he did not know of your justified displeasure. I would like to know who the seller is as I will then file that name under my names of who not to do business with in the feature.
  4. I would have thought that her legal team would have consulted with her witnesses prior to the hearing and they should have known that he will not be an expert and that a nephrologist was needed in her defence.

  8. my rule of thumb when buying or selling is speaking to the other party first.you can ask the right questions and the answers will take you far if you are speaking to a scammer or not. normally prefer face to face and if not possible bikehubpay. apart from only being a member for a short time are there any other reasons why the deal seems dodgy?
  9. Did my first triple digit in 1987 on a dare, the old Algoa 100miler. During and directly after the race I thought I was going to be scarred for life, but still a runner today. Let me rather rephrase a jogger. Enjoy and sometimes it is a very good thing to do something a bit different. A good goal should scare you a little and excite you a lot.
  10. I have learned that the only way for me to enjoy my hobby(cycling) is to rather be a a living dog than a dead lion.
  11. Years ago there was an ad on radio that stuck a deep cord with me. It basically was a guy negotiating a very very good price for one or other article. The voiceover then said next time you buy a bargain remember where it cam from. The ad then played soundtrack of someone being robbed calling for help and a gunshot followed by silence. It made such a big impact on me that i have walked away from probably genuine bargains, but I firmly believe that in most instances the buyer knows he is buying for a price that cannot be legitimate. I have no sympathy for either the perp robbing or the guy buying.
  12. my 2 cents worth and no I am not a doctor. I get itchy same place and it is normally the sweat evaporating and leaving a salty residue which then irritates the s.it out of me. i press the helmet hard against my forehead to get rid of the most sweat and rinse with water when i can. Hope you get sorted. Yes I also think your friendly pharmacist would be a good port of call first.
  13. Thanks for sharing.I felt the heat here at my desk.
  14. Hopefully the Senior State Prosecutor will apply his/her mind and refuse to prosecute after investigation is finalized.

  17. I do most of of my riding alone either on the idt road or mtb. I stick to the roads and surroundings I know and try to be vigilant the whole time. Hate it , but I ride with mace and have turned around before when dodgy characters were up the road. I have learned the best defence on the bike is distance between myself and the other person wanting to attack or liberate you from your possessions.

  19. I was part of support crew on the 0.5 Knysna. Beautiful beautifull race , but yes tough as nails. Also went through to Mosselbay the next day for Mosselbay IM 70.3. Two completely different vibes. I take my hat off to all who participated in the Knysna race as it is next level.

  21. It is my opinion that the ave SA athlete is completely distance bedonnerd. If you start running the first question is are you going to do comrades. Now maybe I started to run a 5 km parkrun alt to run a very fast 5 km and then through progression will move up to say 10km,a 21km 42km and then maybe 2 oceans or comrades. The same with triathlon first question being are you doing IM when starting to do tri. The same with cycling. You buy a mtb and the first que your friends or the sales person asks is are you doing the epic. No maybe I just want to get fitter or race xc. The general mentality I have encountered is that if you did not go long you are not a racer/athlete. I am all for the short sharp stuff as if you do it right it can burry you wrt effort. But it is not such a cool braaivleis story to say you ran a sub 15 min 5 km parkrun than to say it took you 4 hours to do a 21 km run. Until such time as this mentality is changed, and I highly doubt it will, I think it will be an uphill battle to get the numbers to shorter races.
  22. I had a look at the recovery protocols of some of the great Norwegian runners and triathletes. It stood out to me when they said that supplements, ice baths, compression recovery boots etc. make up less than 5 percent of their recovery and that 95% of the recovery comes from sleep and proper food. For me the sleep changed a lot towards how I feel overall. According to my garmin I get on ave between 9 and 10 hours of sleep per night.
  23. It reminds me a bit about the comment from Roy Keane when asked if player x will be starting a game as his wife gave birth and he commented"he should be playing,he did not give birth did he"
