The wife is going to the UK for a few days which leaves me with a 13 year old that has NO interest in cycling....unless it is on the phone or playstation..... and so I am doing the responsible parent thing.... We forced ours to ride as a chubby kid. It lost interest between the ages of 13 and 15. Then all of a sardine it saw the advantages of healthy lifestyle and exercise. Now it sometimes buys its own bikes with its own money . I was told by one of the marshals at SSWC that she was the fastest lady down the mountain.
