Recently started riding a 2 wheeler commuting to work. Not used to the riding position and associated neck strain with having to look up the whole time, but that is getting better. I have found however that I get quite a bit of pain in my left Trapezius leading up into the neck. So much so that it hurts when I stop at traffic lights and then look down. Can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong specifically on the left side that may be causing the pain. I have a snapped tendon in the AC joint in my left shoulder from a bad bail on my unicycle a couple years ago, but unsure if it is related though. The pain feels like it's from a muscular strain, or over compensation of something.

I'm trying to relax my arms and shoulders as much as I can, but doesn't seem to help much.

is your bike setup correctly ?

also perhaps you are straining because of the traffic around you. I've found I tend to do this when I negotiate traffic.

The only setup I've done so far is saddle height. As I'm fairly new to the world of 2 wheelers I'm still figuring things out ITO setup. Although if it was setup related I would have thought that I would have the same pain on the right as well, not just the left .... I could be completly wrong though.
