Rich Stan Posted November 13, 2012 Share So, I am riding an Anthem X29er which is currently running Avid elixir 5's. After much consideration I have decided to put the Avid's where they belong, in the bin! They are really the worst brakes ever! The squeal worse than a stuffed pig and give as much feedback through the levers as i would expect if i had two midgets pressing blocks of wood against the rotors to bring me to a stop! jannosmit Posted November 13, 2012 Share I replaced my Elixir 7 with Shimano SLX, no more sqealing, better stopping power and faster strava times I got mine from my brother, cause he already had XT. Helpmytrap Posted November 13, 2012 Share Swapped from Elixir CR's to XT and never looked back. Now I swear by Shimano (no comparison.) Then again maybe the 180 rotor also had a large effect on the stopping power which swayed me. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
