Sunrise & eggs over easy. A group ride with a difference.

Those of you who have joined myself and Slick on our weekly night rides will know exactly how much fun they are. This really got the old rusty ticker going and I have come up with a nice adventurous idea.

The idea is to start at location X at 04:00 in the morning and ride out to a great breakfast spot. Some place like Modderfontein would be nice if we could get permission to start from there.

We will then stop at 7:00 or 8:00 for breakfast at 33 on High and either do some more riding afterwards or head home.

How many of you have actually experienced sunrise while on a bike? I have and it's without a doubt one of the best things you can experience on a bike.

Suggestions for venues and dates are most welcome!

I always make sure I do the sunrise shift at the 24 hour. Without doubt one o themost surreal mtbing experiences you can ever have. You always spot wildlife too.

I somehow don't think Central Park at Modders is open that early or any other official mtb venue for that matter. It would have to be an "open" trail... We sometimes used to ride from Fratelli to Paulshof Mugg & Spleen for brekkie but not at sunrise. We could do Delta and Alberts (sunrise is awesome up there) - then ride to Parkhurst or Paulshof M&B.

Then only drawback is that we do The Spruit pretty often...

This idea has been canned. Logistical nightmare.

Ill share a sunrise ride with my close friends at the 24hour thought.

Looking forward to that. It's a very surreal experience...

Pffffft. I've done plenty of sunrise rides with friends up to Alberts. ;)

You riding the team or solo lite? We're camped at the River Camp, will be doing a bos-brekkie somewhere in any case - anyone's welcome to join smile.png

Riding team with my hubby, staying at a guest house - will give you a shout closer to the time and maybe join up with you guys... thumbup1.gif

Schweet, there's actually a ton of peeps going that I know (for a change lol) - was thinking breakfast at one of the falls - I'll send the bus and cook there, and we can bike :)

It is awesome, I do it at least once a week, ride from my place in North Riding around 4:30, through to Caltex on Witkoppen (near leslie) for a Seattle latte, and then hit the lonehill servitudes, and back home by 6. easy ride, good fun, and there's 2 of us hubbers doing it now tongue.png

*pre-sunrise over monte* a more rural setting would be nice too. and some good breakfast.

I did this kind of ride with a couple of friends to welcome the new year in this year. We left Hekpoort a little after 3am to be at the top of Breedts Nek and see the sunrise from there. We were all very sleepy on our way back because we didn't manage to sleep much the night before, but it's still right up there as one of my best experiences ever thumbup1.gif
