Sawdust Posted December 4, 2012 Share SS bolts are fine in non stress applicationsUseless if under tension.Shear is fineSS work hardens If the bolt is magnetic it is a ferritic SS and won't work harden. It also falls between a 8.8 and 10.9 grade so it is pretty hard as well as tough. No problem using SS bolts on a bike. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Cassie Posted December 5, 2012 Share Coke is the cheapest and easiest. The sugar content in that stuff is crazy good at removing rust and blemishes from metal. Put in glass of coke (full fat version) and leave for 15 to 20 minutes. Crazy. It's NOT the sugar that does the damage (i.e. removing rust) ...it is the phosphoric acid that does that...yes, coke has a small amount of phosphoric acid in it!! Nasty stuff...go figure why Coca Cola is not too good you...luckily we are mainly made of flesh...not metal!!
