"Moreletta spruit is best accessed from the Plumbago restaurant (don't drink the coffee if you're an afficionado) from there you head upstream on one side, down stream on under side and then duck under the road bridges (some you need to go over) all the way to Silverton almost."

Not any more...Plumbago has long gone and the entrance says no bikes allowed, reckon the trails are overgrown as well

Has anyone ridden the trail recently? With all the palisades coming up over the last two years I've noticed most of the Moraleta trails are gated off.

Found this on a website, but those holes are fixed/gated now.

Ooh, some routes to look at. I've only really done the Railroad route (from ~RoseMary Hill down to Witpoort)

The Bashewa bit, you mean if you go through the plot roads and you take that little staircase climb from the plots through to behind the Excel garage?

Will you maybe be able to indicate the trails (or at least their entry and exit points) on a map? This now the Avondzon, etc etc trails.

Here are some other places to ride as well:

Thanks Helpmytrap.

How safe are those routes though? I've only ever ridden between the N4/Boschkop down to Garsfontain. I usually go riding on my own.

I’ve done the Magalies a couple of times, not recently though, it used t be a b1&^%$ getting up and down the mountain, would like to do it again soon with those easy access points mentioned above... :)

Riding out past Mamelodi alone isn't the best idea unless your insurance is up to date. Otherwise I'd say the rest are all good, but rather ride with a mate the first time round just so that you can decide for yourself.

Thanks. Yeah I'm happy with the roads below the N4. Those are void enough (of shacks/etc) to be relatively safe. Will take a looksie at the more northern routes with someone.

If anybody is up for some company when doing some exploring in the East please give me a shout - I ride solo mostly - will do my best to keep up! Know the Mooiplaats/ROsemary Hill/ part of railway track pretty well , but some places you dont go alone. Ek soek nie mooilikheid nie! Always keen and also would love to find someone to ride with in the week once or twice- available any afternoon from 4 onwards! Spinning is not quite the same as time in the saddle!
