Thanks, mate. It was pretty hot. My Polar says the average for the ride was 33 deg, with a high of 47 deg. (in direct sun, I'd imagine). Wind not an issue.

D'you ride today?

Oraait.

How did you stay hydrated?

I trained both days. About 5.5 hrs in the saddle with about 1800 ascent.

I carry 2 1l bottles, so I carry a fair amount of fluid. There's also a fair amount of garages on the way.

That's some serious climbing. You'll sleep tonight!

Today's numbers: 130km, 2085m, 7h49, 19.4 km/h ave, 7280 cal. A late start meant I left out K'dorp Hill and Doreen. An earlier start should get the job done. This should take the distance to about 150km, and push the climbing up to around 2500m. All in all, a fun day. Watch this space for details of next Sufferfest :-)

Next time I must just come with and leave my lame excuses at home. I ended up doing 124km, 1435m, 4h48, 25.8 ave. Sandton thru Cradle past Avianto up Krugersdorp hill to Randfontein back down Ontdekkers thru Northcliff Linden Randburg Bryanston. So much for taking it easy today.

Sadly can't make 10/2. Can make 3/3 - a week before Argus. Hmmm.....ph34r.png

The racing calendar is filling up. Might be a bit close to Argus if you're looking for an optimal ride. Will look for a post-Argus date after the ride on 10/2 :-)

Have you cycled up Doreen before?

Cars usually come flying around that first left hand bend

Yeah, many times. It feels very unsafe. There is no shoulder and you're in the way of traffic coming round the bend. I try and ride it early before the traffic gets too crazy.
