Any ideas where we can see who has entered i.e. a start list?

Looked on the web site but could not find anything, might be early days still

Still very early days for that ... as entries have not closed yet - I will send your comment on to the media guys and see if they can set something up on the site.

Thanks

Its pretty standard practice here in Europe and kind of neat so you can check up on the level of the competition

How will the seeding work?

I'd guess its based on results from previous World champs and then on your individual point tally in your specific countries national championship standings and thereafter on date of entry /alphabetical

i.e

Last years champ will be called up first and then 2nd etc (if they are there)

Then those who have the most national points (who did not score at 2012WC)

And thereafter by date of entry for those who don't qualify by either of the above.

So its vital that you enter and score as many points as possible at your own nationals if you don't want to be starting near the back

BUT that's all a big guess on my behalf

At this weekends SA Cup XCO at Thaba we are to do a "qualifying" lap at final practice to get our grid seeding.

Maybe this goes for the Masters as well. Makes sense.

UMMM ... not that i know of - not for Masters anyway ... this would hold true for the Elites (and if you are racing a World Cup where you need points to be allowed to enter) .... but with Masters ... anyone over 30 years of age ... who DO NOT have any UCI points to their names (gained at World Cups or racing Nationals or UCI ranked races in the Elite Category) .... but do hold a National Racing Licence where they are registered as a Master in the UCI Category ... can race!

So you dont need points .... I havent done nationals in AGES but i have still entered. ....

Yeah - its all down to your seeding run ... this is NOT a qualification run as per the World Cups ... everyone does it ... you then use this time for your seeding for the Finals. and everyone races the finals

How they Seed you for the Seeding is another story! hahaha

OH but remember this is only for DH ... i dont know how they would seed the XC okes ... as you cant really do a seeding lap!

I was referring to start positions for XC

I did a masters xc wc race many moons ago and there was definitely a system to determine your call out position onto the start line, but I have no idea how it was worked out. In those days you had to be a member of a national team OR if you lived in the host country you could enter without being part of the national team.

My bad, I was thinking specifically towards Masters XC and not DH

Unless it has been changed AGAIN, it will work like this for XCO. Call up will be....

  • Medal winners in previous champs if they still fall into age cat. THEN

  • national champs of each country present. THEN

  • The entry date when you officially entered. As I only entered a week before Brazil..I was on the last line with all the fish and chips guys.

This is how it was done in Brazil. We have no say over the matter it is all set by UCI. So before anyone starts a debate about the effects of this, you will have NO impact on how it is run. UCI are in charge and the organizers here must fall in with their decisions.

just my take on it......enter as soon as you can cos Cascades will be a ride where the better your position is on the start line the better your position can be as you enter the single track before the hill. It's going to be a MAD DASH at the start FOR SURE....even us "Old Toppies"......
