Hey folks, I want to get myself some new Nobby Nic tyres so I went over to CRC to check it out and I found 2 options that have my attention, but I'm confused.

 

The one is the Tubeless ready one

And the other is the Evo Snakeskin

It's the snakeskin I'm after, but I want to use it toobless style, hence my confusion; so I went over to the Schwalbe website to have a look at the options

I see they list a snakeskin, tl-ready option, but I don't see that listed on CRC.

 

My question is, will that snakeskin on CRC work for me?

 

Then I see the warning about Taking 3 days of consistent sealing, and that sounds like a pain in the butt, is it really?

I use the Snakeskin NobbyNic on a ghetto tubeless conversion with no problems.Took about 2 days to seal properly and i painted the inside of the tube with Stans.

What's the SA pricing for them?Bought mine at lbs for 45 euros.

Just remember that tar will eat these triple compound tyres.

Why would you want to pay R653 ex Vat in Ireland when you can get them locally for between R525 and R595???

short answer: yes Evo Snakeskin will do you just fine. Mine wasn't porous to the point that i had to paint the tyre first. Just fill up with normal amount of Stans and go ride. It will seal without extraordinary amounts of effort or sealant.

 

TLR means the bead is fully tubeless standard compliant, but the sidewalls aint. That's what the sealant is for.

 

Shoulda seen my schwalbe marathon slicks that i had converted to tubeless: it broke out in a Stan's sweat for almost 2 days before sealing. Been almost a year now, and no issues.

I don't ride on tar at all, so that doesn't bother me.

 

@Naas, R550 or R650 is all the same to me as long as I can get stock, being as I need the 26"

I went to the website and put 2 in my cart (the 2.25 version tho) and tried to check out with my card. Unfortunately the service they use doesn't work with my Nedbank/Visa card. I have had endless fights with Nedbank over this, but they just can't get it right with this card or my previous one. No fault of Evobikes, but still annoying. I love PayPal, this local 3D crap just causes me headaches at local online stores.

 

I'll do an EFT later from my laptop, but I assume it adds another 2 days or so onto my wait time while the funds clear.
