Flowta Posted June 28, 2013 Share I have set up an old 7-speed Shimano 600 derailleur with 105 downtube shifters to work (on friction mode) with a 10-speed cassette....no hassles. AFAIK the pull ratio for road groupsets hasn't changed. That's why you can use a 9 speed mtb derailleur with 10 road shifters. Oh yes, you can use almost any derailleur if you use the friction mode.
