Hi guys, is there any route info/profile available for this event, having just done my first mtb event on sunday, 30km Walkerville Classic. I need to decide if I have sufficient talent and legs to attempt the 50km on the day...

Done two 50km events at Redstone and the routes were very similar with two laps of 25km. If the route for Sunday is the same then there will be a very steep climb up a concrete road and a very technical and loose descent the other side, some cool single track and all in all a very enjoyable ride. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/143359101#

If your first ever event was the Walkerville 30km I would suggest you enter for the 25km in this event.

The route is quite a bit tougher than the Walkerville event.

If you manage the 25km easily, you can always enter the 50km in August.

Thanks for info, so signing up for the 25km this weekend then will hit the 50km next month which will great prep for my next step up to the 60km 2 River MTB Challenge in Bothaville in September... Heard good things about this event too...

There aren't any other events over this weekend, and the venue is in close proximity to Pretoria and Johannesburg.

Should be interesting.

Thanks for the advice Pezulu in doing the shorter route, this is real mtbing... survived the 25km lap, and managed a 1:42. But probably not the best event to try with clipless pedals just fitted on the Thursday for the first time... But enjoyed it non the less, in my limited experience I found the event well organised and will be signing up for the 50km in August if work allows.

that was a great race...finally managed a finish on my third outing...still had to deal with wire wrapped around my cassette about 1km in and then a puncture about 2kms later...but its an awesome course
