Fellow hubbers,

I hope you can help me. My GT Zaskar frame has the back end of a pop rivet stuck in the frame tube. The frame tube is the left seat stay (closed tube). The bike shop says it is the back end of the pop rivet from the mounts holding the disc brake hose.

Is there any way to remove the pop rivet without damaging the frame?

Hope my story makes sense.

Regards.

If it's stuck in the hole, it may be possible (if something of a PITA) to remove with an EZ-Out or similar. If it's rattling around inside the tube I'm afraid you'll have to learn to live with it.

most frames have a small breather hole somewhere , find it and get a tube of super glue . squirt the super glue into the hole , just a little then rotate the frame till the rivit falls into the spot where you squired the glue in . it will then glue itself to the inside of the frame . its not a way to take it out but a way to stop the rattle .

A long shot but the following works sometimes: Inject a little bit of expanding foam through the hole left by the rivet (or any other hole in the tube. Tilt the frame till the lose rivet is stuck in the foam. Leave to dry. It should keep the rivet captive so it does not rattle around. (Glue also works, it is just more finicky to use)

Edit: Damn, I am the slowest typist here :whistling:
