I would like to form a bike polo team in Green Point. I need at least two other guys or ladies who are interested in playing regularly, but the more the better. I have mallets and a ball, I just need guys who have nothing else to do on a Sunday afternoon and who have bikes. I'm happy to teach people who would like to learn.

Photos from the last 'tournament' we had are here:

And here's a nice explanation video (don't worry, I play a lot slower than these guys):

Please PM me if interested.

Great Great idea! Green Point is the right place for it too.

Please post details on the Hub of when and precisely where you play. I think lots of crazy Hubbers will come to have a look and then end up playing.

I've played bike polo at some of the Dirtopia Festivals, but it was a lot more robust than in the video. It is huge fun though. I'll come check out what you guys do and I'll bring the rest of team DJR along. As for playing myself, I recon I've got enough scars, broken bones and bits of metal skeleton as it is already. On the other hand, this could be the excuse to get another bike......

We are playing this weekend, Sunday, by Macdonalds at 3-6 if you'd like to come through and check it out (and play). Or email me at lukedsimpsonATgmail.com. It would be REALLY good to get more people playing.

We're playing Fish Hoek Polo who are the only other 'club' in SA.

Apologies for this hijack, but can anybody clarify or confirm whether cyclists are indeed allowed on the promenade? I know they had a trial window which extended to January, but never heard what happened after that. I hate that suicide run from the putt putt traffic lights to the other side of the pool. I far prefer using the promenade.

Yes, the Sea Point promenade is now open to cyclists. The Cape Town City Council opened it provisionally sometime late last year for a month to judge whether it could work. After that, it was decided to open it permanently to cyclists. it proves that walkers, dogs, kids, old ladies and riders can get along just fine. All the no cycling signs have since been painted over. Cool Sunday morning cruise. Try the outdoor gym while you are there.

One last ruck.

I can't for the life of me imagine why anyone would want to watch TV when they can come out to a place like Green Point and have this much fun!
