I think I've posted in the incorrect section please move if you can ...

Guys I need some help .....

i want to buy a road frame but I'm unsure which one would suit me best . I'm 1,89 tall . At the moment I ride a Large Raleigh RC 3000 frame . I have been " peace meal " upgrading my groupset to Ulteqgra 10 speed and now I'm looking out for a frame to buy .

I'd like to upgrade to a carbon but which one is good value second hand?

I guess I'd consider a Alu with Carbon fork or Alu carbon mix ?

Lastly for the options you guys can give what are price I'm looking at . My budget is R5000 max

What are your suggestions ? ..

Thanks

Delgado

There have been some bargains of late on the Hub. There was a guy selling a Silverback Space brand new for R6 000 here in PE.

Have you tried Mark at Recycle Sports in Charlo? He has tons of stuff and is always helpfull.

For R5 000 you will pick up a 2- 3 year old Scott, Raleigh Silverback, Giant etc.

I've got a 56cm 2012 Cannondale CAAD10 frameset (Black & White) complete with Seatpost, bar & stem you can have for 5k. Frame is in very good condition, can PM you pics if interested.

Take the guys Caad

What he said... Good bike.

that said there is a lot of frames out there at hell prices.

Personally I'd go for this Giant TCR Advanced carbon weapon.

or

Merida Scultura Evo

or even a Spez' Tarmac SL2

Agreed, also probably the lightest Alu frame on the market at the moment. Cant beat the strength to weight ratio of Cannondale.

Hell's bells ! Options galore .. I'm gonna investigate the Canondale I think . Thanks guys !

At 1.89m tall that 56cm may be a little on the small side.

I am 1.89M tall (6foot 2") and I ride a 58cm Cannondale, but I have a 905mm Inseam

I'm the same height , you think I should rather go for w 58cm . Some guys say a 60cm .. Presently I have w 54cm ," large " frame.. So far I don't feel like I'm "drowning" the frame . ...

Depends greatly on your inseam and reach.

I have a short body with longer than normal arms and legs. The reason I chose a 58 is I used to ride a 60cm, but it felt too cumbersome. General rule with Cannondale is if you normally ride a 60cm, you could get away with riding 1 frame size down, ie. 58cm.

Generally taller guys like ourselves fair better on conventional frame geometries. Compact frames never really seem to fit. Generally speaking that is.

Well that's what I thought ( current. Frame is a Raleigh Rc ) but I don't think it's such a good fit . My inseam is 780mm so I'm not sure i think a 60cm ? Do u perhaps know ?

Take a look at this site, it will give you a pretty good idea of size.

http://www.ebicycles.com/bicycle-tools/frame-sizer

I would say more along the lines of a 58cm... but see what the calculator spits out.

Seems like you have shortish legs for your height.
