Time xpresso 2 vs Look Keo Easy pedals

I'm looking to buy some pedals for my bike I recently bought. I don't really wanna spend over a grand for pedals and these are two at decent prices.

Which would be the better option? I'm leaning towards the Xpresso but not sure how reliable the latest ones are compared to the iclic. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Consider rather how easily available cleats would be and service on pedals when deciding which one to buy. As with Speedplay, light, good concept, dual entry pedals but cleats are hard to come by.

How often does one need spare cleats?

I'm still using my time Impacts I bought 12 years ago and only on the 2nd set of cleats. The Time Racing pedals I used prior to those where 1988 vintage and I used the original cleats till I could no longer get spares for the pedals.

I like the Keo but their bearings are made of devonshire cheese. I prefer the Time pedal system and have been using it since the TBT days circa 1988. Never had an issue with them, only required bearing replacement once between 1988 and 2001.

I owned a pair of iClicks. Thoroughly disappointed in them. The pedal surface grinded away over time leaving you with massive float.

That said, they have updated the pedal with a steel plate when they brought out the iClick2 and Expresso.

I went from iClicks to Look Keo blades.

Awesome! I am not a Look fan at all but I love the firm 'click' and secure fit in the pedal far more than what Time gave.

That said, I love time and would look at them again in future. For now the Looks work better.

The Xpresso 2's don't have a steel plate but the Xpresso 4's do. The 4's are R 130 more so maybe that would be a better buy. The Time pedals are extremely light though at 220g. That's a ridiculous weight for an entry level pedal and it's why I'm attracted to them.

Thanks for the assistance guys. I got a great deal on cyclesonline for the Time pedals so I'm going for that. I'll test for a couple of months and if I'm not happy, I'll switch to the Looks.
