Another case of road rage in the Western Cape

Travys Wilkins, first year professional with the Western Cape based CSC/CVT outfit, on Wednesday became another victim of road rage when he was attacked by a motorist. Wikins and four his team mates was busy training when the incident happened.

A case of assault was registered with the police and the 20-year old Wilkins earlier on Thursday went to a doctor with the relevant forms to be completed pertaining his injuries.

Wilkins earlier said he was taken by surprise by the actions of the motorist. ?We stopped at a red robot in the right hand lane on the Bottalary Road when things got out of hand. The motorist stopped behind in a white ?bakkie? and he started acting strange.

?We asked him what his problem was and he came forward with his arm outside the window and he slapped Glynne Moolman while going past him. He went past us and stopped the vehicle in front of us and although I didn?t see it, Chris Willemse jr. just shouted he?s got a gun. I could see him fiddle behind his seat, but I never saw the firearm.

?He got out of the vehicle and as I got close to him, he hit me the fist on the jaw almost causing me to fall. Luckilly I kept my balance and then got the hell out of there,? Wilkins said.

Young Willemse said he clearly saw the motorist taking a gun out of a holster. ?When I saw that, I decided that was me and I got out of the situation as quickly as possible. I got the fright of my life,? Willemse said.

Wilkins said another motorist got hold of the buch a short while after the incident. ?He said he saw everything and then followed the motorist to a suburban house in Bellville, presumably his home.

?After he got hold of us, he took us to the place. He also gave us all his particulars and said he will testify in court as to what he saw. I?ve given his details to the police. Earlier today a detective also contacted me and we went to the place where the incident took place. It was a frightening experience and I hope he can be brought to justice,? Wilkins said.
