I am doing a 80/65/35 ride pretty soon. Day 1 is a lot of tar, Day 2 & Day 3 mostly district road/cattle path. I need to fit a low rolling resistance tyre that is also pretty hard wearing...something like a Crossmark.

Battling to find Crossmarks recently and am on a tight budget so would like to keep purchases to the minimum.

What alternatives to a Crossmark are out there? (please dont say smallblock8...I am NOT a fan!)

Tubeless preferably but if necessary I will go back to tubed just for this ride.

Whereabouts are you? I have 2 relatively new Crossmarks lying around in my garage. I don't like them so will not use them anytime soon, and they might end up innthe recycle bin eventually.

I should probably mention that they are 26" tyres. :)

@ Topfuel...live in Howick...MTB heaven :)

Need 2 x 26" and 2 x 29 " (riding as 2 person team)

@ scotty..yeah I checked evo. No 26" crossmarks. 29" Crossmarks for R550 each is eina to the budget

@ Coenie...I need 2 x 26" :) If the are in good condition, I would be interested in taking them out of your garage and into mine

Smallblock8...not an option :P

CWC has the 29" Crossmark Wire bead at R160...but only 1 in stock :(. UST versions are well priced ...but that = R1800.00 for 4 tyres..aikona says the budget

Amyone had good experience with Spez Fast Trak?

Uhm...... yes. So good I keep 2 spare....... because they are sold out most of the time. And you'll save 250g per tyre over crossmark UST.

PS. Why is SB8 not an option?

@ akneethling..thanx for the suggestions

Going to see if I can find some Fast Trak's :)

Umm..SB8..lets just say bad experience lol. Found that they roll really well but that the grip was non-existent. They might actually be OK for this particular ride, but the thought gives me shivers!
