Hey Hubbers,

I have finally sorted out some leave so I am super keen on taking a trip to "Maritzburg" for the World Champs.

Any suggestions for good accommodation anywhere near there? The Missus will be joining me and she would want to wonder about in the Midlands miander area for all the arts and crafts, so I was thinking of getting a place somewhere in between like Howick?

Thanks

enjoi

(If this is in the wrong section sorry. I tried searching.)

I got a chalet at Umgeni Valley Nature reserve last week, they seem to have a few options left

Not been there before, just outside Howick and seems close to Karkloof, which I plan to explore Sat and Sun am.

Personally not looking for anything fancy, as long as there are not too many roaches roaming inside, but I know how fussy some ladies can be over linen etc,

Note to others: make a plan to be there: this is going to be probably the biggest international mtb event hosted in SA: all the players are coming in pursuit of the rainbow stripes.

Its definitely going to be crazy seeing all the big guns going all out for the Rainbow stripes.

We should all hookup for a Hub ride and greet. I'm sure I saw a post about it somewhere...

Staying at the Golden horse casino. Driving down Friday and driving back on Monday so only 2 days for watching the action. Still worth taking the bikes along ?

@Skandalis...Shawswood is a great option. say Hi to Bundy and Micheal whilst you out there. If you need some local tips, PM me lol.

PS : karkloof is only 8km from shawswood. I will be out there again tomorrow clearing track in the expectation that everyone comes to ride :) XCO Course is ready to ride!! Dont waste the opportunity ! R30 trail fee covers you for the day for both Howick and karkloof trails.

PPS : I live in Howick...but will be down at cacades most days for the next 3 weeks ;) Got UCI Media accreditation so would be stoooopid to miss out on being there :)

Everyone who is coming down, if you need any directions or help just let me know. Will try my best to help out where i can

@ Stretch...if you take them on the 30k route, make sure you go through puffadder pass (turn right instead of left after carnival section). if you dont take them there then they cant say they have had a proper ride ;)

I'm staying with the brother of a Hubber, who, very kindly, put me up for the World Cup last year. Within walking distance of Cascades
