X01 is still ultimately XX1, the finishing is the real difference (eg: cassette) on parts and alloy instead of carbon on some areas.

The retail difference will be marginal for consumers, the real benefit will be for OEM spec on built up bikes going into retail.

The cranks are adopted from XO anyway. So If you already have XO cranks, you can convert to 1x11.

Although the spider design wont allow you to use the smallest front chainring, 28.

Theres already working models of a more wallet friendly 1x11 with alloy cranks etc, most likely to be X9

Plus companies like Race Face, Wolf and FSA have 1x11 front chainrings in the market place.

By this time next year 1x11 groupsets will likely be mainstream as the barrier to entry drops. IE, **** will become more commonplace as more oem, retail and aftermarket **** will be manufactured.
