And those open plot and farm areas outside Benoni is OPEN... the slightest breeze of wind there and it feels as if you have glue on your tyres. The wind always feels as if it's coming right from the front, doesn't matter how many turns you take on the road.

Let's hope it's all good tomorrow

Yup, it can get windy there, oh well, what doesn't kill will make us stronger!!

It's a race close to home so can't go too wrong.

Good luck tomorrow, hopefully there will be a good turnout.

Last year was nasty on the return after the turn at the stop street, turned into a head wind that was kicking up dust off a field!

If I have read the wind correctly from the forecast, it looks like we will have a head wind heading back to Benoni  so keep my energy for the return leg.

It seems as if tomorrow is going to be a hard working ride in the Benoni August winds, and it seems that the Dome2Dome riders won't have any better luck on Sunday either...

Scotty

Are you offering or just saying about those pancakes and boeries??? ;)

Pancakes and boerrie rolls make the effort of riding in cold and wind worth while.

Pancakes! Yippee! Hope there are some left by the time I help get the last riders in. Marshalling is tough work :-P

Cold and windy it definitely was!! It was quite amusing watching everyone shaking from the cold on the start line.

Was a tough ride out there today but the pancakes were good!!

Thanks to Slowpoke and all the other marshalls out there today.

wind was terrible.

A group split within 1st 10 km. Then 3 of kinda stuck together till 5 km from the end, were the guy with red cleats caused a brake. Was a hectic race. Finish time around 3:25. Anybody know when results will be released? and what was the winning time of the a group?

I was encased in nice warm leathers and full face helmet and yet I can still feel the effects of that bitterly cold harsh wind. It was so bad I dreamt of it last night. I hope the D2D guys are having a better day.

Results were available yesterday.

About 13 or so guys broke away from the A bunch after about 30kms, and that's where I dropped with a few others. A few of us joined up with a couple of VB riders and rode the rest of the way, we picked up a few of the guys who fell off the leading A bunch and a few others along the way, it was a hard ride from about 55kms!!

Managed to finish in the second A bunch with 3:16. From what I can see there were only 6 riders left in the front A bunch, so well done to the guys who won the A bunch, they put 15mins into us!!
