  2. It has always been the case, as long as the unit it not discontinued(they have a list) I have changed a few of my units over the year, either due to faulty batteries, damaged casing, or broken clips, you take it to Navworld and they will upgrade you to another unit at a hugely reduced price, there are some limitations, but you can reduce your upgrade cost
  3. https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/247352-bicycle-trailer-for-towing-kiddies/ A little more money, but well worth the extra cost if you ask me, a lot safer, and should another child pop into your lives, plenty space
  4. https://sport.takealot.com/sport-secure-bike-rack-wall-mounted/PLID42126689 Nice option with a locking bracket
  5. I was fortunate enough to get an Edge 1000 a week or so back(stupidly low price), have had The Edge 305, 705, 500, 510 and 520 (the latter i still have as well for the time being), Can honestly say that i have never used the mapping function on any of them, but will do on the 1000 as it is essentially a Satnav with a full bike computer etc all together, also has settings to use to control a Smart IDT as well.... On the point of the 510/520 and 820, sadly i cannot comment as the 800 series is the only of the bunch i have not owned....but now knowing the massive advantages in the 1000 i can only assume the middle place will be pretty good too Also remember that all the reviews you will find are generally also going to be based on the original release software so the device controls will be VERY different, most features get added long after launch
  6. RRP should be used by the manufacturer to advertise on their website, in a free market, retailers should be allowed to sell at cost if they want, should have nothing to do with the supplier once it leaves their truck/offices.
  7. Depends on the company, having had a retail store(not bike related), i advertised items below a certain companies RRP, and was told if i sold at that price they would stop supplying products to me(not even my supplier, but the manufacturer)
  8. I am not sure it is a strng arm tactic, but retailers do need to watch their pricing, and am quite sure they are all quite aware of what others are charging, and often cannot compete with other due to purchase pricing, consumers are also welcome to buy where ever they please, this thread was surely just a comment from the OP, i often shop around, and yes, it is frustrating to have to order from multiple stores, and i often even pay a littl emore due to saving on shipping
  9. Or just go to a dedicated agent of the product mentioned(NAvworld) and get it for less than the aforementioned car parts dealership MSRP is bad for the consumer as the bulk of shops will offer for that price to stay competitive, as mentioned above, leaves the consumer in a price fixing situation, manufacturers want to protect their product, agreed, however, the smaller dealer gets nailed by the distributor when they offer clearance stock(at lower prices) to larger retailers, leaving the smaller dealer with expensive brand new stock that they then have to sell at cost or below to clear an obsolete item
  10. It will be loose and grind a little bit
  11. Get Lube on the chains ASAP, if they washed it with water, risk of rust
  12. CL, considering i haven't ridden much for the last 3 years i am happy
  13. If the HR version can be used with a strap and has all the features... Why not have the best of both worlds
  14. I have used both the Fitbit HR and the Garmin Vivosmart HR, have had no issues with either(beside the charge terminals on the fitbit melting away) Heart rate reading are pretty close to the HR strap on my Gramin computer while i ride, although i use it more as a guideline than an accurate reading(the watch). If you really want accurate readings, get a decent strap and link to the watch, if you really want accurate readings, get a proper heart rate monitor with electrodes....
  15. The best thing about removeall is that it gets into all corners... Apply with a paint brush, wait and paint just falls off as a paste, depending what paint was used., it may take a few applications. ..
  16. http://www.plascon.co.za/products/product.asp?SectionID=1&RangeID=11 Best option, gets in all corners, any kind of bead blasting will leave minor morks on the frame itself. I have successfully used the product above on both steel and ally frames in the past with no damage to either.
  17. For all those that could not make the Memorial ride last week, i made a short video of the ride(apologies for the quality)
  18. I have recently had the same dilema, and decided to get a cheap second bike to leave on the trainer to save the hassle of taking my "proper" bike off when i do manage to get out....convenience...
  19. Share away, taken from Procycles Facebook page
  20. Morning all, There will be a short memorial ride on Sunday. Time to be finalised. From Procycles to Grapes and back. I will post details as soon as they are finalised
  21. RIP Barry, gone but never forgotten
  22. I heard a rumour that this was the last one(various reasons), i wasn't planning on riding but decided to join due to this
