Oh and here is a pearl

Go to linux yamaha on malibongwe and ask for a roll of raceface protection. It this thickish tape that you can cut into any shape or form and you get 10m of it, so enough for you and everyone else's bikes. cost 200 bucks

Paid R300 for a roll from WOA in centurion the other day :(

Any tips for applying the tape? I know using soapy water when sticking on stickers works. Any other ideas?

I want to ride my bike without worries, but I don't want to ride a scratched or damaged bike.

I had my carbon MTB frame wrapped by VPS, they specialise in covering off road vehicles, it is a fairly thick plastic film, once fitted it blends in, not visible at all and tough like hell.

Cost me R600 for 2 bikes, if I crash the film gets damaged not the paint or carbon.

How do your guys protect the paint on your bike if at all? I have heard of some guys using 'Mr Min' but sure if it will cause more damage than protecting the paint. Apparantly it also makes for an easier cleaning session next time round .... :-)

I don't fall...

I love the stuff....you can cut any shape for little cable rub areas around your fork and headtube. I use meths to clean the area properly before I apply and then stick it on....what is nice about it is that if a rock hits your downtube hard enough to cut the tape, it welds closed automatically.

Oh and dont touch any part you cleaned / prepared with the meths before you stick the tape on...there is oil on your fingers even though you cant see or feel it.

There are many solutions to maintaining the beauty of your baby. Automotive polish, furniture polish, non stick spray, plastic vinyl type wraps and the list goes on.

I have been testing and developing a product over the past few month called BPS (Bicycle Protection Systems) The product is manufactured from a protective acrylic self adhesive film that is widely used in the automotive industry to protect the leading edges of automobiles against stone chips and scuffs.

BPS is 325 microns thick (0,325mm). The product is UV stable (It won't turn yellow with age), it is clear so if you have spent obscene amounts of money on a boutique brand the tape doesn't obscure the logos! It has been designed around both road and mountain bikes to protect all the vulnerable areas like the top and down tube, chain stays, head tube and all the cable contact points. As mentioned, it is simply a case of peel and stick.

There are various options available, There is a full bike executive pack that will do all the areas mentioned above as well as have you wondering what to do with the extra bits left over. There is a race snake pack that protects the essentials Down tube, chain stay and cable rub points and then there is the budget pack that just does the cable rub points. If you are interested, please drop me a PM and I can assist with pricing.

Just to add to the above, There are digitally precut options in the configurations already mentioned as well as self cut sheets for those frames with odd shaped tubes. They include application instructions.

Hi Grebs as mentioned in my post, that raceface mx sticker roll comes in at 200 bucks for 10m and is 10cm wide. Do you come in at the same price point given I can do 10 bikes with my one roll.

Hi rouxtjie, Wow! That is a lot of tape! Two questions quickly, is that a continuous roll and what thickness is the tape? BPS is close to that price point.

PM sent.

Yo

Yea it is a continuous roll, like a monster roll of selotape. Thickness, no idea...but it feels quite think, cause it welds closed when if it gets a cut from a rock, which is a nice addition. Not that it matters because you get so much, you can stick another set on. You have to prepare the area with alcohol though or meths....then it sticks nice and firm
