What are the suggested options ?

I got a quote from postnet (postnet to postnet) - R500 zar

 

any other alternatives ? (The obvious to ask a mate who is flying up, can be excluded.. )

Get some quotes from a couple of courier companies. A frame shouldn't cost more than R200.00. I just bought a complete bike from Velo Life and it only cost R180.00 to courier from Somerset West to PE.

Postnet is a rip off to say the least, skelms,..I had to send a parcel once to Jo'burg, got it it weighed at Post Net in Milnerton, their scale weighed it at 1,5kg when I knew it wasn't that heavy, took it to the Post office around the corner and their scale weighed it at 800grms!!! Anyway, this is probably way off the topic, but phone around dude!

Postnet quoted us R3 800 to post an aluminium braai dish to my brother in law in NZ. Sent it via snail mail at the post office for R180. It took 10 days to get there.

 

I paid R365 to post a whole bike with Time Freight from PE to Jhb. Collected at my house and they dropped it off at the buyers house.
