I need to buy a women specific 29r mountain for a friend.

 

Her budget is R8k-R9k

 

What do you recon is the best bang for buck ?

generally woman specific is a rip off, more pricey for less value, so with a limited budget go for general and change stems/seats etc to make comfortable

I think "woman specific" is a marketing ploy... I recon its sizing that is the important thing..

I disagree, my girlfriend is very small. 1.5m tall, and tiny 48kg. She tried mens bikes but could never ride them. She now has a Specialized Jett womens bike. Everything is perfect now, especially the seat which is made for women. About R10000, quality parts on the bike, full xt and rockshock reba.

My wife rides an AL329 Momsen like me, cost is about R9500 and it's perfect for her.

They make an LA329 which has a lowered top tube and coasts about R1000 more so agree with lady specific bikes costing more.

Agreed with buying normal bike, but make sure you get a woman specific saddle.
