  1. Endomondo has this, your friends can see your training live, position, distance, etc. not sure how well it works these days though. My guess is Strava will have this feature too? But as has been said, they all use a lot of battery.
  2. It's the one that has a wide, flat looking piece of metal coming out from under the bumper. With 4 bikes on a platform rack it flexes up an down excessively, and is very distracting in the rear view mirror. It was about R1800 about a year ago, luckily it wasn't my purchase With this particular model, they also seemed to have only attached it to the cars chassis, and not replaced the metal "under-bumper" like they do with other ones.
  3. I have a Thule towbar on my Polo, and it was well worth it. The Bosal is about the same price, but the Thule looks so much better. It is also very solid, and I use a 4 bike platform rack on it. Do not go cheap and get one of those SA Towbar ones, if you do ever put a 4 bike rack onto it, it flexes all over the place and you freak out every time you look in your rear view mirror.
  4. I started as a way to keep fit when my knee started hurting from jogging. Once I tried my first proper trail, I was hooked. Best way to see new places, great adventures.
  5. Other matchmaker brakes from SRAM (non-avid) are Guide R, RS, and RSC.... I unfortunately have only ever seen reviews on the RSC, the most expensive ones.
  6. I've been using Ikon EXO front and back for a year (1700km), with minimal wear. Lots of cycling in Giba, over rocks, etc with no issues.
  7. FNB offer a service to get money out of PayPal accounts, even if you bank with another bank, they will obviously charge a fee.
  8. I find with Maxxis Ikons front and rear, that the front tends to wash out. The Ikon is a strong, long lasting, fast rolling tyre, but maybe put something else up front (Ardent Race?).
  9. Here is very limited information on "Mountain Bike" magazine, there are 3 issues a year: http://www.electricink.co.za/mag/256
  10. I think these are PureGrip, R349 each .... http://www.easybike.co.za/continental-race-king-29-x-2-2.html http://www.easybike.co.za/continental-x-king-29-x-2-2.html
  11. Neither. Like Fanie said, they just re-use articles, only the bike reviews can be interesting. Tread is definitely one of the best, there's also some new quarterly mag which is really good, the name escapes me at the moment...
  12. bump, I'm interested in this as well. I don't think you get the PureGrip with Protection, but I've personally never had an issue with tyres that have paper thin sidewalls, so keen to try these out.
  13. I've been using a Specialized Phenom Expert for about 2 years now, very comfortable for what looks like a minimalist saddle.
  14. Sorry to hear I cycle that area often, not cool
  15. I have had the Buzzrack Buzzy Bee 4 for over a year, and I still wouldn't buy anything else
