Hottest I've ever been in my life. Took me 30mins longer than last year. Was broken good & proper by the end.

 

On another note, today's route was most probably the most boring route ever. Should've called it the Plaas Cruise or Squatter Camp Cruise. At least the weather played along...

Hottest i have been for a while. I got worried at some stage when i started feeling cold, I felt I was shivering (if that makes sense). I poured a bucket of water over my head at one of the water tables and felt better.

 

Time was OK though, 25 mins faster than last time.

 

Best thing is that it over for the year and anything else this season will be more pleasant!

 

Next best thing is that I decided not to do the 40 today and rather had a great 2 hour ride on the spruit..

It was hot , but then the Crater is always hot,managed my race better and really enjoyed the last 40km's.The ice at some of the waterpoints was pure bliss.

I only found ice at 1 water point. Tea temperature USN isn't as wonderful as it sounds. I still really enjoyed the race though.

the heat killed me. i was prepared but not for the heat. last rode in 2009 similar time this year

 

why was there no beer at the expo???

Nearly killed dudes. Ave HR over 165 for 5 hours. Hottest temp 45 degrees. Ave 38 degrees according to mates Garmin. Okes were chucking their bikes into the bush and diving in the river.
