Good idea' date=' got stuck on the Diepsloot road yesterday.  <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I am seriously starting to consider skipping races who?s numbers collect cost me two hours off work and the frustration of JHB traffic.

Fully agree.  smiley32.gif

Organisers should leave you the option to collect numbers on the morning of the race. (only some of them do)

The organising club has to provide the manpower (or womanpower) at registration. In the case of the Emporers race, the organisers did not have enough people to man the race, so there was no way they would have someone to hand out numbers on race day. They even requested assistance from Germiston Wheelers to provide 50 marshalls for this race.

For the Carnival, race numbers can be collected on race day from 05:30 onwards. Otherwise collect your No. from CL (Centurion), CL (Fourways) or TdF (Boksburg) on Thursday, Friday and Saturday respectively.

I dont see why your number cant be e-mailed to you.

If you dont have internet access, well ya gotta pick it up, but use the technology available for heavens sake.

I know there can be "the Paper issue" but why cant you just buy a few of those small plastic pockets (they come in A4 and A5 size, slip the preprinted number in seal it up with some tape and pin the whole pocket to your jersey.?

Then again with some of the fellas here, they will consider that too much weight.Big%20smile

Methinks the idea of number collection is nothing more than a cunning way to get you into a participating retail outlet where they can hopefully sell you something extra.

Licensing issue has taken a turn for the worse in respect of the cyclists I am afraid to announce. It appears that CSA/provinces has not clearly thought the process through and communicated with the one another in this regard hence we suffer once again and most cyclosport license holders paid CSA eitherR75-00 or R95-00 for nothing at all."What to do" I am dumbstruck by this developments.

This is CGC's stance on the matter, now I ask how was my applications processed and forwarded to CSA if some of my members never met this criteria, Who do I claim the monies back from? or has this become a worthless donation to cycling coffers.

QUOTE THE PRESIDENT OF CGC-

Hi all,

I have followed the discussion on the matter and would like to make my point.

Firstly to set the record straight, CGC last year implemented licensing in our province based on qualification and that it would be controlled by the province, full racing licenses(Elite) would only be issued based on the national index and the Supersport ladder was selected as the qualifying standard. For the record the following are the indexes used by CGC;

Elite/U23                                    7

Vets 30-34                                  9

Vets 35-39                                13

Vets 40-44                                16

Vets 45-49                                19

Vets 50-54                                21

Vets 55-59                                23

Vets 60+                                  25

All applications were evaluated on that basis and licenses awarded accordingly. If an applicant was not awarded an Elite license they would then qualify for a Cyclosport license. What was imperative was that licensing was to be controlled by the provinces and that CSA was not to issue any licenses and to direct any applications made to CSA back to the relevant province. The new licensing system procedure has turned this on it?s head.

Mallo, maybe I am not too bright, but I dont understand the gist of the letter, is the implication that to for CSA to issue a cyclosport license you needed to have a certain index or better?? - but then just went ahead and gave everyone who applied a Cyclosport license even if they didnt comply with the requirement (ie) the index?

Before I make further comment I will see if I am on the right path here because even though I spent the better part of 20 years reading legalistic letters I can never understand CSA s correspondence.Dead
