When did silver spokes become scarce.?

Apparently '650B' spokes are also almost twice the cost of 26" spokes .......

That's probably just a supply and demand thing.

Expect pricing to normalise as 650 becomes more popular and more readily available.

True that, hope it's pretty soon cause I'm scheming another set ...........

To cut a long story short, spokes are ordered for a wheel rebuild.

Silver needed.

What arrives.?

Black. ("and we don't really stock silver anymore")

WTF.? :cursing:

What colour are your rims? Embrace the stealth look.

Are you planning on having black rims with silver spokes?!

Unfortunately some wheel manufacturers thought that would be a good idea.

Rebuilding both wheels in order for them to be converted to black just seems a waste.

Not only a waste of money, but a waste of time too ...

but yeah, silver DT Swiss seem to be the standard on CRC. One usually has to pay extra for black.

I can't see why they should cost more. A spoke is a spoke - only the length varies - and they vary over a big range. I'll bet you will find deep section road wheels with lengths similar to 650s. As for the black vs silver the swing is to black for most builds, however you still need plenty of silver for repairs and such. I am expecting stock eaqrly in the new year but I am sure the local distributors will have.
