come one guys... a smile or nod of the head costs you nothing neither does acknowledging someone when they greet you.

there is no better feeling than enjoying the fresh morning air on your carbon stallion..  no need to be grumpy, especially not if you are wearing the same club kit i am!!!

Depends if you have to wake up at 4:15 am to get to the start of the morning ride. Then you are sure to find some who are not interested in doing anything but shake the sleepysand out of their eyes...

i cant understand it either - have been out on my mtb many weekday mornings (5-15ish), only to be passed by sullen groups of roadies on their weekly training rides...whats with that? Is there a special instruction these guys get that they shouldnt greet other cyclists?

Where did this happen.  I make a point of greeting my fellow cycling friends.  But have to admit that sometimes I am in deep thought and miss greeting someone every now and then.  In that case I apologise to those.

I try to greet everyone, because if they greet me back, they know I'm there.

The last time I was on autopilot a 11 year old schoolkid jumped in front of me, and I went over my handlebars to avoid a whole flock of them. Surprisingly, while a 11 year old is quite small, they're quite soft to land on, and you can walk away from a crash with no bumps or bruises. LOL

Ussually when I see a fellow cyclyst approach me from the front, no matter how tired I am, I start to cycle faster as not to show him I'm in pain and greet him with a smile.

My first couple of rides I learned quickly that most cyclists do not smile or wave, or greet anyone on the road. In the beginning I would smile and nod or wave, but I got no response so I stopped doing it. Ermm

Although 2 weekends ago I got a wave from 6 or 7 cyclists in a big group going down kyalami hill wearing orange kit while I was going up. I nearly fell off my bike I was so surprised!

It was a pleasant surprise so I think I will start greeting other cyclists again anyway, because it could catch on. Smile

Not irritating at all, they can sit as long as they like.

What IS irritating is when they pass you and then slow down, so that you have to overtake them. Or when they come through and try to pace you for a while. If I wanted to be paced, I'd be riding in a group. Grr.
