RudoJ Posted December 2, 2013 Share So it turns out this Mavics are 6bolt, and the shimano centre lock. So the Mavics it will be, provisionally reserved them for me. Its a very good deal I think

droo Posted December 2, 2013 Share Good choice! Also cos the Mavics don't use bearing technology from the dark ages Ya, but their freehub bushings are made of cheese. (True story, they're even yellow.) Fortunately the issue is fixable with a Hubdoctor conversion. Otherwise they're great wheels. droo Posted December 3, 2013 Share Hubdoctor conversion?Tell me more Hub thread Ebay link with all details and instructions for ordering and fitment. Basically replaces the cheese with a bearing, which will last a whole lot longer.
jmic Posted December 3, 2013 Share Had both.... The Shimano hubs are really bad. They tend to get dirt in them very easily and start grinding and moaning very quickly. The Mavics (CrossMax) have cartidge bearings that are not only less prone to junk getting in, but also very easy / cheap to replace and service.
