Hi. The trail is looking good. Well bedded down and the growth has been cut back.

The shop opens at sixish during the week for a day pass. Still costs R25.

Saw the duiker with her little one today. Stunning. Also see there is a raptor in the forest. Looks like a juvenile kite but I could be wrong.

On the negative side there were a couple of still water bottles littering the trail.

Just did a afternoon ride and saw the duiker a few times. Had to stop for it twice as well. I think she likes me. Only crap thing about the afternoon ride swallowed a billion bugs.

Thanks for bypassing the muddy section near the end.

Also see the trail has been cut back nicely so visibility was good.

I had to stop for a golfer to play his ball from the trail back onto one of the fairways. What is the protocol regarding golfers playing shots from the trail? Do we stop until they play the shot or must they wait until we pass on the trail. I know they have right of way on the course and pathways.

That being said I happened across a golfer on the trail right at the furtherest point out before you start coming back home. The golfer dude said i could cross his path but then the trail snaked back right next to him. I just stopped for a few seconds to let him play his shot. he thanked me and we parted ways.

This is now my regular ride. I frequent it as much as possible which is 2 to 3 times a week. It is awesome everytime and the trails are just getting better. Some of the markings on the route splits need some upgrade or maintenance but since I know the trails it does not bother me really.

Might be a good idea to fix for when new guys go there.

Yeah my mates and I also hit it a couple times a week and when we don't have time to do red barn.  Awesome 1hour workout section with enough technical stuff to hone skills, but too much that newbies cant handle it. Also there is beer in the clubhouse for after... mmm it puts the carbs back into the tummy.

We going tonight actually since i finally got myself my own bike. My friend also got new pedals he wants to test.

Just FYI to others if you starting after 5:45 you may need a headlight, its getting pretty dark in the forest sections.

ye I started at 6:09PM and by the time it got to 6:40PM it was pretty dark... usually it was light till 7:15PM so the season is definitely turning quick now.

5:30PM for a nice light ride - 5:45PM for a sundown showdown - 6:00PM for a into the darkness and later will be a night ride.

Note that the Pro shop closes much earlier so if you are not a member you have to come earlier.

I joined the members and it is definitely worthwhile. Keep up the good work!

Hi are we able to ride any time? I see that most people are riding at night but I am guessing that is just because it fits into schedules. I'd like to ride there a few Saturday mornings. Also how technical is the track? Still a bit of a noob.

And how do I get there is probably most important.

Yeah you pretty much able to ride from about 5am to 6/7pm most days

Its not incredibly techinical but there are a few drop off and steal ramp/bridges that require a bit of co-ords to negotiate.

We have taken a few people there for their first MTB trails and they all managed to do red route.

Golf Course is on Morris Rd in Benoni, just around the corner from Northmead mall.

When you drive into the golf club the entry to the trail is in the right back corner. But you need to go to the pro shop to get a code to get through the gate. Track is fairly well marked.
