G Man Posted December 8, 2013 Share I usually get mild sinusitis during the changing of seasons, however the moment I climb on my bike(irrespective of season) and slightly exert myself(usually 20 min into a ride) my nose opens like a leaking tap and I spend the rest of the ride with my hand in the back pocket reaching for the handkerchief. Do I have an intollerence to something in my diet, have cut out meat, drastically reduced my gluten and dairy intake to no avail. Any advice would be appreciated. Skylark Posted December 8, 2013 Share I get that to, though may not be as severe as your experience but I need to wipe my nose every while or so after riding as you say for about 20mins . I think it's more the rush of air up your nose that makes it water, it's generally worse the colder the air is. lazza Posted December 8, 2013 Share What you have is Vasomotor rhinitis-usually autonomic nervous system overreaction in the nose to cold and wind.
SilverRider Posted December 9, 2013 Share We call it a condensation problem . Ops normal for most of the year while commuting.
SilverCracker Posted December 17, 2013 Share I have the same problem, even at some stage considered plugging it. but that tends to make you pass out as you don’t get enough air. I do know that the faster you go, the less water comes out. Sorry I cannot help...

Could also be a reflex due to the drying effect that the air has on your airways...
RichieT Posted December 17, 2013 Share I get it too, any temperature, but worse if it's very cold. I have regarded it as an age thing! But would like to know how to minimise if poss.It could be a common issue as riding gloves always have a towelling part, for wiping said noses!
