siggie Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Looks like a crack. My Giant Anthem has a a creak comming from the rear syspension and I think there is a crack.

Capricorn Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 two things come to mind in that image:1. it's a poor finish on the weld: they didn't weld up the gap completely, but when ground down, it left a 'pocket'. If that is the case, those internal sharp edges are stress raisers, and that gap should've been ground out and rewelded during fabrication of the frame. Further up the weld, there's another similar area of poor weld finishing, but just not as hollow/deep (encircled in green) 2. those stress raisers mentioned in 1) above is already causing crack propogation, at least to my eye (see the fine line in red). If that fine line is an extended crack, then you have a firm basis for a claim, as that 'gap' in the weld is a factory quality control issue. ThePubSA and Carmichael 2

BrandonF_ Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 I've heard the Anthems have a tendancy to crack in that area, on my 650b Anthem they've actually made some re-inforcements in that joint, but I see the 2014 Anthem 29ers are still the same..? Weird tho, they had so many returns of the '13 model
