MTB clipless vs flats

Apparently the Saints are properly sticky. And personally, I'd rather have flats on a fixie than cleats. As BigBen says - the ability of clips to unscrew you hips is a bit of an off-putter.

And no - I wouldn't go for those dual purpose pedals. It's a compromise on the security of flats, but a far more substantial cleats system as it gives more support. The only time I'd ride them without cleated shoes is to the shops.

They are proper sticky. I have taken them for a 3 hour trail ride on the Dual susser, and I got used to them very fast because they grip so much. My only complaint is user error. Constantly looking for the "right" foot position on the pedals.

Welcome to the mtb club...I have been riding for 10 months now and only in this week i put in my clipless pedals in my training bike......i know i am gonne c my gat still but i heard from every mtb rider that clipless does help with power and stability over rough terail......myself i have been doing crazy sh!t with my mtb on flat pedals and only a couple of times my foot came of the pedals.....but that was my own fault......so i would also have a look at the clopless why r they so dificult to let go....i have put on richey clipless pedals now and made them very loose and my mtb shoes comes of easely ......have a look at the tension ...... well if u go to flats get decent pedals......crank brothers or something u can c is proper and build for hammering....cool beans give it horns mate

Yeah. 100%. My stack in Tokai was totally user error, and my feet came off purely 'cos I was bucked like a mofo thanks to too little talent, and too little rebound damping. Buut one thing I will say - my Superstars are amazing. They grip like shaite to a hiking boot.

Mada3400 actually said that they're the first pair of flats that he feels comfortable on...
