Chipped Bikes!

With all these hijackings,stabbings etc for the purpose of stealing a bike,is there no possible way bikes can be chipped with a tracking device?

 

After a bike is taken can it not be activated and traced?

 

Surely word would spread and this kind of crime would decline?

 

Also considering the price of bikes today.

This would also decrease our insurance premiums slightly?
