Johannesburg Evening MTB Training Routes

I think I've fought through Jhb traffic to try and get to Kyalami for 5pm, only to be told that they are closed to cyclists, for the last time.

 

Where do people ride (preferably off road / single track)? Another plus would be good parking in the area.

 

I had a blast riding the pavements on Douglas Dr, Kingfisher Av, Leslie Dr, William NIcole and Witkoppen in Fourways when I eventually got home. I'm amazed at how much single track there is to be had on the average pavement.

I don't know about the parking bit but I consider the spruit to be good riding.

Mark, you can try Alberts Farm, the Botannical gardens (gates close at 6) and Delta Park.

 

I normally lead a monthly night ride around those areas on the 1st Tuesday of the month.

thing is you need a few people with you if doing the spruit in the evening, can get dodgy from a dodgy character point of view.

this would take you around emarentai dam past delta park (nice singletrack and climbs) to paulshof if you so desire.

My evening routes are around carlswald/crowthorne/bluehills/beaulieu - close to home and can avoid most traffic (except crossing the R55)

What is the dodgyness factor of Delta Park and Alberts Farm in the evening?

 

I'm keen on joining the night ride, what lighting equipment is required?
