Just to complicate the issue even further, there is talk about following the motorcycle trend of having a larger wheel in the front and the smaller wheel at the rear. Its called a 96 ie 29er at the front and a 26er at the rear. That's a big difference.

You could go for a 29er front and a 27.5" (650d) at the rear, or 27.5" front and a 26er on the rear.

Has anyone on the Hub done this?

Trek did that quite a whole back. Didn't take off.
